Subject: Golden Brown
Subject: Golden Brown
I was just giving this show a listen for the first time (love hearing this monitor mix!) and hearing something familiar but out of place in Unbroken Chain.
...
Took me a while, but VInce is mixing in bits of the song 'Golden Brown' by the British band The Stranglers through some of it. This was really cool to me as I've loved the song since hearing it in the soundtrack to Snatch in 2000 (the song was originally released in the early eighties). Less cool is it's double-meaning, referring to a girl and heroin.Great song though!

Gotta agree with the last reviewer, lets cut the guy some slack. yes, '95 was a truly awful year, and this is a truly awful show. My heyday was '85,
...
and those shows were levels above these. Not even in the same league. What do you expect - they were 10 years older and Garcia had two serious illnesses in between. And he had to re-learn how to play in '86. They were never the same after that. But they deserve a lot of credit for supporting those they had to. I wish those people would have seen the writing on the wall on gotten jobs sooner, probably would not have mattered much in the big picture. Thanks for the great memories and this wonderful archive for streaming.

The guy had about three months to live, I can't believe the complainers. If they'd been at the foot of the cross they would have called christ a wimp
...
- for the way he was just hanging there.

This show is awful awful and more awful.
Jerry is so fucked up it is beyond belief he actually was able to sing and play as well as he did.

Kids growing up today... my kids - will not have The Grateful Dead to serve as a sort of 'church' for the weary soul. By far the most memorable moments
...
of my past occured at 'the shows'. I am still in tears, now... today, just recalling all that we used to take for granted.
Thanks 'splendid' for dragging me out to my first showand tour. What my life would be without the positive influence of this fantastic band I will never know.
I caught all of these Omni shows, which were all fantastic, but this and 3/27 were stunning. I can clearly hear myself screaming during Row Jimmy not far from the tapers. Only a PeggyO could have made this one better.

I just don't see how folks can bicker over shows. Some are better than others just based on what that persons vibe was. Everyone has good days and bad.
...
But the dead made them all wonderful. Thanks for posting anyway. :)

Wow.
Just wow.
People paid to listen to this? In retrospect, it's rather hard to believe.

...BUT I WOULD RATHER BE WITH YOU!! oo this shit gives me goosebumps. i know this isn't may of 77 but you know, like the below statement JERRY WAS STILL
...
WITH US. I mean seriously, best show of the omni run by far, jerry is somewhat with us, not to many lyrical flubs, a bit of noodling on the guitar but still overall good show, great show for 95

This si a GREAT show. Why? Because Jerry was with us.
To you who did hte '95 tour-great-it's too bad that it sounds like you are one of those people ... who don't know how to make the best of something.
I am sorry to come on so strong but, it rips me up that poor jerry spent and lost his life giving himself up for music and the 'dead machine' and all people like you do is bithc bout how lame it was. Why go, why be here?
This show is great. Download it. Expect-if you know anything baout the dead-that Jer sounds a bit off or "on another planet' as some say..hey every show I was on another planet and not just because of embibing...I can;t get over how some peopel treat Jer like shit in htese reviews of older shows.
IF YOU CAN'T FIND A WAY TO ENJOY JERRY THEN GO HOME. LIFE IS YOURS TO MAKE THE MOST OF EVERYTHING.

whah??
barely average?? no way
this was the best show of the omni run, and one of the best of the entire tour.
the second set opens with a stunning ... Unbroken Chain > Help Slip Franks. the energy is just HUGE on this. not to mention a big big St. Stephen tease coming out of space. As this is happening, Jerry nods to the crowd, essentially saying "no, we can't drop the St. Stephen just yet, sorry folks and stay tuned!". if we *ever* get digital soundboards of this show, we'll all be in for a big big treat. Great Standing on the Moon as well.
this gets 5 stars for musical inspiration and performance, but I haven't listened to the sound quality of this aud, fyi.
